Even though some people may think baking soda can be harsh for the teeth, it is very beneficial in reality. However, it should be used for a longer period of time to get the result; it won’t do wonders in a single day.
2. Try Oil Pulling
There are specific oils which can help to whiten the teeth and the term “oil pulling” refers washing of mouth with these oils. Daily oil pulling can help a lot in reducing bacteria, plaques, and gingivitis. Though there are no specific scientific proofs for oil pulling to help in teeth whitening, many people believe in the process. Coconut oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil are mostly used for oil pulling.
3. Changing Dietary Plan
While consuming certain foods and beverages for a longer period of time, layers of stain are built in the teeth surface. This not only makes the teeth look dull and yellow but also helps to increase bacteria in the mouth. Having too much of acidic foods wear down the enamel to reduce the whitening of teeth. Hydrogen peroxide is highly used in whitening products since it’s a natural bleaching agent and reduces bacteria in the mouth. One of the best ways to use hydrogen peroxide is mixing with baking soda. Adding 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide with 1 teaspoon of baking soda for brushing can be very helpful in whitening the teeth. However, hydrogen peroxide should not be used for a long time since it may increase tooth sensitivity. People already suffering from tooth sensitivity are not advised to use the peroxide.
5. Using Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar can kill bacteria in the mouth since it is composed of acetic acid. That’s why it is considered a good product to clean and whiten the teeth. But if you use it daily in concentrated form, the acetic acid can damage the enamel. Thus, it’s better to dilute the cider with water and then swish around the mouth for a few minutes. Afterward, rinsing should be done with plain water to prevent the probable damage.
6.Using Fruits for Whitening
Fruits like papayas, pineapples can also help in teeth whitening since they are composed of special enzymes. Papayas consist of papain and pineapple comprise of bromelain which helps to reduce the stain on the surface of teeth. However, this does not mean consuming fruits can replace brushing or flossing.
